The Stencil Art of Chris Stain and Josh MacPhee
Open Thursday January 26th, 2006
Opening from 6-7 pm with locally grown wine and cheese
Underground Gallery at the Sanctuary for Independent Media

The Sanctuary for Independent Media is on the river side of 6th Avenue at 3361 (it’s an old wooden church building with two tall pine trees in front). It’s 4 doors down from 101st Street. Beware: 6th Ave turns into 5th Ave north of 101st Street! If you have trouble finding it, call (518) 272-2390.

The opening is in conjunction with the Margaret Mead Film Festival. The film on Thursday is Awake Zion, directed by Monica Haim. Here’s the description: “Have you ever wondered why Jews and Rastafarians share the same star of David and references to Zion? “Awake Zion” is a story about unsuspecting cultural convergences. Through music, interviews, history, and performance, this film investigates the symbols, laws, culture, and themes shared by two communities that might appear to be on opposite ends of the spiritual spectrum.”
