‘Til The Hot Runs Cold…’ opening at the StolenSpace Gallery on the 23nd May will showcase new works by the artist Word To Mother. This much anticipated solo show, his second at StolenSpace, will feature paintings in spraypaint and acrylic on wood, canvas, found objects and installation pieces. This show will also see the release of 2 new screen prints hand pulled by the artist.
Word to Mothers craft is unlike any others, blending an organic warmth with his compulsive sketch book drawing and city life observations, absorbing the everyday; architecture, social situations, drinking tea and the deliberation of retaining artistic integrity whilst being commercially successful. His canvases are found wood sourced from the beaches of his birth place Hastings or the discarded wealth of weathered objects found of the streets of East London where he now lives and works. These recent paintings feature pattern work interspersed with diamonds, hearts and characters deliberating daily life in an unforgiving city environment.
